We used to talk of everything that needed to be said
when we sat under the canopy of gold rays
gorgeous declarations of adventures to be were spilt.
We were going to get married under gold lilies
and speak of vows that we wrote for each other
while friends and family loved us together.
But when I wake in the morning because I can’t sleep anymore
the bed is cold underneath me while the lights are off
my fingers reach for a being that isn’t there with me.
The bed sheets are amber like the necklace you got me
the bedroom painted in a fit of creativity that was never finished
the wonderful color usually bouncing but now it is dusty

And so I tried to hold your letters
the way you used to hold my hand;
fingers spaced between torn edges and
around undotted i's.
Guiding me away
from those gentle autumn leaves that
I had loved to crunch
so very much.
But instead, I stepped against the sunspots
of every promise you had broken
trying just to pull some meaning from a sentence
ending with "goodbye".
And when my eyes began to slide over the words you had misspelled,
I closed your note
and tore it into nothing.
Nothing but a sad reminder that once again you had cracked
like those gentle autumn leaves
that I had loved
so very much.

i love it<3 i love how it's so open-ended that everyone gets a different meaning from it, and admittedly, i did stalk the comments to see what everyone else thought xD i got the whole affair feel from it, but then i could see how everyone else saw it too. overall, it was absolutely amazing hon.
